Seal of Civic Readiness

How a Student EARNS the New York State Seal of Civic Readiness

To earn the New York State Seal of Civic Readiness, a student needs to have a total of SIX points from chart below:  Two points MUST be from column one (Civic Knowledge) and two points MUST be from column two (Civic Participation).

This chart suggests the most recommended pathway for students to earn the Seal of Civic Readiness.

KEY NOTE: If a student earns four points in column one (Civic Knowledge) and the 1.5 points in 2a. High School Civics Project, at this point most students will only need 0.5 points to earn the Seal of Civic Readiness.  This means the student does NOT need to complete each of 2b., 2c. 2e and 2g.  A student needs 0.5 ONLY needs to complete ONE of the boxes.
